The bottom line is that our company is not successful unless our advertising campaigns provide effective results for you. With over 30 years of experience, Slatts Group has withstood the test of time by exceeding the expectations of our clientele. Our purpose is to influence your customer through creative, traditional direct response advertising and targeted online campaigns.

Launched by Ambition

In 1978, Slatts Group originated as a Cincinnati, Ohio Valpak franchise. CEO and Co-founder, Robert Slattery, has expanded the business into multiple diverse businesses. Our host of promotional products range from traditional customer-oriented coupon envelopes & magazines, unique consumer-based periodicals, solo mail, successful evolution of new on-line venues, local, regional, and national event marketing opportunities, and more. On-going innovations allow us to build your business with our creative advertising campaigns.

Expansion Into Retail, Hospitality and Service Businesses

In the last decade Slatts Group expanded into pet equipment manufacturing, recreational dog parks, on-line travel, and restaurant and event marketing business units. The focus in the next decade is to leverage the success of these business units and create scalable business models that can be expanded throughout the US.

Bob Slattery, President and CEO of Slatts Group, has a long track record of local entrepreneurship and investment into the Greater Cincinnati business community. Slattery is a Cleveland native and graduate of Miami University, where he studied business and earned a Master’s degree in marketing/communications.

Post college, Slattery and college roommate, Robert Wolfe bought the Cincinnati Valpak® franchise, and in time expanded their territory to become one of the largest Valpak operations in the country. Slattery and Wolfe founded franchisor Reach® Magazine in 1983. Later, Wolfe sold his stake to Slattery to pursue other interests.  On March 21, 2017, Slattery sold Reach Magazine to Valassis, a leader in intelligent media delivery.

Slattery owns and operates a diverse group of companies, most in the advertising and media fields. Slatts Group is a media marketing company, which sells mass targeted traditional print publications, including Valpak. Slattery’s niche editorial product Housetrends®, an upscale home and garden magazine, circulates in Greater Cincinnati and several other US markets. Slatts Group offers a full range of online services to clients, through the Slatts Group brand, which helps small and medium sized businesses grow through a full suite of digital media solutions specifically tailored to each client’s needs, including website design/development, social media, hyper-local search engine pages, search engine marketing, search engine optimization, digital coupons available via mobile website and app, and email campaigns.

Slattery’s entrepreneurial spirit does not stop there. He is also founder of Perimeter Technologies, Inc., manufacturer/retail sales/and installer of Pet Stop® electronic pet containment fencing systems. Pet Stop holds several key patents in the industry which has helped it expand coast to coast with over 160 dealers. In June 2009, Perimeter Technologies introduced the Wifi Dog Fence – the first pet fence on the market employing the hottest micro-chip transceiver technology keeping pets in their yards without wires!

Meanwhile, Slattery was working a little closer to home in Cincinnati with the local Pet Stop office to develop and open WagsPark®, a one-of-kind world class private dog park, offering 3-acres of fun and fitness for dogs and their owners. One of the Park’s wonderful amenities is WagsPark Spa, which offers indoor/outdoor self-service dog wash stations, as well as a head to toe spa for dogs, including professional bathing, grooming, skin and fur treatments, therapeutic massage, and more. Plans for the expansion of the WagsPark® business model through a licensing arrangement is slated for the summer of 2018. Also under development is WagsMart.com, an internet based superstore, targeting the industry’s most trusted and reliable pet products at low prices. Slattery also opened the The Growler Stop®, a an independent branded C-Store, connected to WagsPark® in 2013, which includes a full service bar and craft beer Growler “filling station,” with 22 taps featuring an ever-changing selection of the best in local and regional craft beers, utilizing the Pegas Novatap Pouring System (How it works).

His diverse umbrella of businesses includes a national full service travel agency Cruise World Travel/Cruise 800® and Vacation 800®, specializing in lifestyle and honeymoon land-based vacations.

Slattery and his partners added their names to the list of local restaurateurs with the creation of three new restaurant concepts: Slatts Pub50 West Brewing CompanyPizzelii. Bob’s son, Bobby Slattery, continuing his father’s entrepreneurial spirit, partnered in 50 West Brewing Company, located inside the historic, and carefully restored, Heritage Restaurant Building.  50 West has expanded their production and distribution, taking over space across the street formerly occupied by Hahana Beach, quadrupling their current output in their first year of production, with no change to the current six beach volley ball courts or existing 50 West Canoe & Kayak Operations.  50 West has also partnered with Oakley Cycles to create 50 West Cycling, extending the Loveland Miami Trail to attach to the property.  Bob and his partner’s latest venture, Pizzelii, is a non-traditional take on Neopolitan Pizza, also located inside the 50 West footprint.

Slattery was a Finalist in the Marketing Category in the Ernst & Young Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Entrepreneur of the Year in 2006. In 2008, Slattery was named 2008 CEO/Executive of the Year for the Northeast Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce. Also, Slatts Group has been a member of the Deloitte Cincinnati USA 100 and the Business Courier 250 largest privately held companies for the past 12 years.

Slattery has been involved with several Greater Cincinnati charities. Slattery served as president of Tennis For Charity, Inc. (TFC) from 2001 through 2004, and had been a board member for two decades. TFC has been active in the development of what is now the Western & Southern Open, which has contributed over 7 million dollars benefiting Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Tennis for Inner-City Youth and The Barrett Cancer Center.

His professional sports marketing and charitable experience led Slattery to create Reach Event Marketing (REM), LLC. REM brought the return of the AVP (Association of Volleyball Professionals) to the Greater Cincinnati area. The 2005 AVP Nissan Series, and 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 AVP Crocs Tour Series, were all held at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio. In 2012, with the revitalization of the AVP by Donald Sun, Slattery, REM and 3CDC brought the AVP Cincy Open to Washington Park in Downtown Cincinnati, featuring the best domestic volleyball field, including seven Olympians (article: Back on the Beach). In 2013, 2014, & 2015 the AVP Cincy Open shifted back to the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, OH.  In May 2016, REM’s decade of success culminated with the AVP FIVB Cincinnati Open, as the only domestic qualifier leading up to the 2016 Olympics in Rio, broadcast nationally on NBC and internationally via FIVB.  With capacity crowds and outstanding ratings, REM, AVP, and FIVB look to continue their 2016 success with a TBD event in 2018.

In June of 2009, REM expanded their event marketing beyond the sports arena to the bridal industry with the partnersnip of Cincinnati Wedding Showcase. CWS is a once-a-year event that introduces brides-to-be to an elite group of regional wedding vendors and is a welcome addition to the REM family.  Throughout 2015-2017 REM has co-promoted a series of events with 50 West, including the annual end of summer beer festival Fifty Fest, and its amateur boxing and beer tasting night, dubbed “Punch Out.”  Both events are a collaboration with many of the breweries representing the Greater Cincinnati Craft Beer scene.
